Simple Pleasures

I know so many of us are getting tired of all the snow, all the cold air blowing around. I have always loved winter, and this one is no different, I love it. However, at 6:30 this morning, when I pulled my little Prius out of the garage and started my day, I was a little grumbly. This morning I was tired, and cold, and didn't want to be driving down a dark lonely road that early. As I followed the winding curves leaving our neighborhood, my headlights showed such a beautiful sight....the snow. Yes, I said it, the snow was beautiful. In the peaceful morning with no other cars around, I could see sparkles playing across the untouched white drifts, and it made me smile. I decided it was a beautiful morning, I was on my way to touch the lives of families dealing with more heartache than I have right now. As I drove along, I was thankful for the snow, thankful for my job, thankful for simple things of beauty in an ordinary day.

Hope you've had a wonderful day, full of simple pleasures.

  1. Way to put things into perspective, Cindy. And I love winter, too. It's just too bad we don't get much snow.

    1. Laurie-I think you are in one of the very few states that hasn't had the extreme winter this year. We lived in Texas for several years, and I really missed my Indiana winters!

  2. Hi Cindy, Snow does make for pretty pictures. I spent the day with my two oldest grandsons today since school was closed. I took pictures of the snow and how deep it was at their house. Their mom came and got me so I didn't have to drive. I don't know where they are going to put the snow if we get some more that is for sure. It was dark when I left the house so the lights shining on the snow did make a beautiful scene. Take care and be careful out there. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.

    1. Shirley, I wish I could have pulled my camera out and taken a picture this morning, I don't think I've ever seen the sparkles so beautifully. You are so fortunate to be able to spend the day with your grandsons, glad you didn't have to drive!

  3. Good for you Cindy! I agree that it is so pretty. It is the cold I hate. I don't care for driving in the snow either! God bless you and the important work you do.♥

    1. Hi Vicki! It was soooo cold this morning, I didn't really want to get out of bed. When it was all said and done, the snow gave me the motivation I needed.

  4. Lovely post, Cindy. It reminds us to be grateful, even in the down times. I guess we can always find someone having a worse day than us, if we open our eyes to it!

    1. Thank you for your comment. I think we get so busy, so focused on what we have to get done, we don't take time to look around.
